RADIOHEAD has a New Species Named After Them

HERE IT IS FOLKS....THE NEW RADIOHEAD ANT.

Radiohead has been honored with a new species of ant named them -- Sericomyrmex radioheadi

Radiohead are not the first musical artists to be named after a bug. Shakira was honored with a wasp, Bob Marley was immortalized in a type of Caribbean water parasiteand we’ll let you guess who the Loureedia spider was named after.

It was discovered in the Venezuelan Amazon,  and is one of three new species in the Sericomyrmex genus discovered recently by Ana Ješovnik and Ted R. Schultz from the Smithsonian Institution's Ant Lab in Washington, D.C.

The Sericomyrmex --   translated as 'silky ants'-- genus are fungus-farming ants, meaning they have figured out how to farm their own food. They relatives to the relatively well-known leaf-cutter ants.

Eww. I mean....cool.
